Nai Harn Beach

View of Nai Harn Beach in Phuket, Thailand

The picturesque Nai Harn Beach is situated in one of the most beautiful bays in Phuket

Nai Harn Beach, situated in one of the most beautiful bays in Phuket, is a one kilometer stretch of white sandy beach with crystal clear waters. This picturesque bay remains one of the quietest in Phuket. Framed by lush green hills with striking views, Nai Harn Beach is very popular with local Thais and expats. Nai Harn Beach is a great place to visit if you want to escape the throngs of tourists at some of the island's other popular spots.

Nai Harn Beach has managed to stay fairly untouched and pleasantly undeveloped, much due to the fact that the Samnak Song Nai Harn Monastery occupies most of the land off the center and southern stretch of the beach. The north end of Nai Harn Beach is primarily taken by the luxury hotel Le Royal Meridian Phuket Yacht Club.

Nai Harn Beach in Phuket, Thailand

Nai Harn Beach is a great place to visit if you want to escape the crowds of Phuket's bigger beaches

During the high season, from November to May, the bay of Nai Harn is a favorite anchorage for yachts, due to the protection from winds that the surrounding headlands afford, and the quiet calm of the water here. This also makes delightful swimming conditions. During the monsoon from June to October the waves can be quite high, providing ideal conditions for surfing, but less so for swimming. Pay attention to the red flags indicating dangerous swimming.

The rocks in front of Le Royal Meridien Phuket Yacht Club provide some of Phuket's best snorkeling. Mask and fins can be rented on the beach for about 150 baht. There are also kayaks available for rent. Motorized watersports are thankfully kept to a minimum, although rental jet-skis do make an appearance from time to time.

Nai Harn Beach is very quiet and there's little in terms of dining, shopping, or entertainment on the beach itself. A greater selection of restaurants, shops, and some decent mid-range digs can be found a 10-15 minute walk further inland in what might be called Nai Harn town.
