Nai Yang Beach

Nai Yang Beach in Phuket, Thailand

The peaceful Nai Yang Beach in Phuket

Nai Yang Beach, located on the northwest shore of Phuket, is one of the quietest beaches on Phuket. The beach is wide and lined with casuarina trees providing a cooling shade which makes it a good picnic spot. Nai Yang Beach has only a few resorts, making it a peaceful escape from the commercial centers of Patong or Karon.

Nai Yang Beach is renowned for snorkeling and it is very popular with Thai tourists. About a kilometer off Nai Yang Beach is a large reef at a depth of 10m to 20m. Mask and fins can be rented on the beach for about 150 baht. Nai Yang Beach is about two kilometers long and although the water is not as crystal clear as on some of the beaches further south, it still provides some great spots for swimming and sunbathing.

Kite boarding on Nai Yang Beach in Phuket, Thailand

Kite boarding lessons are provided by Kite Boarding Asia on Nai Yang Beach

Kite Boarding Asia, located in the central part of the Nai Yang Beach, is open from May-September and offers kite boarding lessons for both beginners and advanced kite surfers.

The northern part of the beach is inside Sirinath National Park and has no development. The southern part is slightly more commercial and developed with a growing number of restaurants and bars. There are also food vendors along the roadside selling Thai food, fruits and cold drinks. You can also find a travel/tour agency, dive shop, internet café and a supermarket.

The atmosphere is very laid back and the nightlife is very low-key, perfect for those who want to leave the crowds behind. Nai Yang Beach is just a five-minute drive south of the airport.
